Afton Mountain Bed & Breakfast Guest Policies:

Attention: Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the following temporary changes to our policies and procedures for the protection of our guests and staff:

  • Occupancy will be limited to three rooms (six guests) at any one time;
  • The use of face masks is required in public, inside areas (not in guest rooms) in keeping with current Virginia requirements;
  • We will require guests (and ourselves) to maintain a minimum six-foot social distance from other parties;
  • Per Virginia Phase 2 Reopening guidelines, breakfast may be served in our dining room as long as social distancing restrictions are met. Dining is also available on bistro tables on one of our porches or in guest rooms;
  • Early morning coffee service will be brought to each room individually;
  • We have replaced the community cookie server with individual cookie plates in each room;
  • For the protection of staff, guest rooms will not be cleaned during guests’ stays. We will provide bags to place used linens and discarded service/waste items to be left outside your room, and we will provide replacement linens as necessary in the same manner;
  • All high-touch areas will be cleaned & disinfected multiple times per day in accordance with CDC guidelines;
  • Disinfecting hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance and near the water station. We ask guests to use handwashing protocols when entering and exiting their rooms.

Standard CHECK-IN time is between 3:00 and 8:00 PM. If you expect to arrive later than 8:00 PM, please let us know when we can expect you. CHECK-OUT is any time prior to 11:00 AM. Room rates are based on Double Occupancy. Virginia Sales tax of 5.3% and Nelson County Lodging tax of 5% applies to all guest stays.

PAYMENT: A deposit of 50% of the total amount due is taken at the time of reservation. The balance is charged seven (7) days prior to arrival. If a reservation is made less than seven (7) days prior to arrival, the balance is charged at the time of reservation.

CANCELLATION: Fourteen (14) days or more advance notice is required (thirty (30) days for Peak Season/Holiday reservations) in order to avoid a cancellation penalty. Cancellations made without sufficient notice are subject to a charge equal to 100% of the room rate (50% if we are able to rebook the room for the canceled dates), less sales and lodging tax.

We encourage all of our guests to consider purchasing travel insurance to protect against cancellation fees in the event of illness, family emergency, inclement weather, etc. We recommend low-cost policies (as low as $15) through Berkshire Hathaway. We have two standard discounts* available to our guests: all stays of three (3) or more consecutive nights in the same room receive a 10% discount; and guests who arrive in an electrichybrid or fuel-efficient vehicle (one with an average MPG rating of 35 or higher according to fueleconomy.gov) qualify for a 10% discount on any weekend (Fri-Sun) stay.

As a courtesy to our guests, there is NO SMOKING inside the residence. Smoking is allowed on the outdoor porches.

*Discount requests must be made at the time of reservation and may not be combined with any other discount or special offer.

We are sorry that we cannot accept pets. We currently have two dogs of our own who are not permitted in any guest rooms.
