And with winter fast approaching, Wintergreen resort is ready to offer you a number of cold-weather activities accommodated by “one of the world’s most sophisticated snowmaking systems.”
Let’s take a look at some of the fun winter activities that you can enjoy on top of this breathtaking Virginia mountain:
- Non-Snowy Activities: Just because the snow (both natural and man-made!) hasn’t arrived yet doesn’t mean there isn’t a flurry of fun to be found at Wintergreen. Treat yourself to massage at the Spa, stretch your legs on a hike, or challenge your companion to a tennis match.
- Skiing and Snowboarding: Hit the slopes on your own or under the guidance of one of Wintergreen’s instructors. Rent your equipment, grab a four-hour or eight-hour lift ticket, and race your way down the mountainside.
- Tubing: Are you ready to take the Plunge? “Imagine being on top of a ten story building and looking out over a hill that's longer than three football fields. Now imagine going downhill on a tube at speeds reaching 30 mph.” As the largest tubing park in Virginia, you can be sure that you’ll have some speedy fun.
- Ice Skating: Glide across the ice of Shamokin Lake, a 45 x 90 foot rink with a gorgeous view. (Did you know that a 125-ton chiller keeping the ice solid?)
