Thanksgiving at Wintergreen
The stores may be telling you that Christmas is coming, but we know you haven’t forgotten Thanksgiving! Your usual Thanksgiving plans probably include getting together with friends and family, viewing the televised Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, and filling up on turkey, mashed potatoes, and various cranberry-flavored concoctions. That’s all well and good, but why not do something a bit different for Thanksgiving this year?
If you happen to be staying in the Nelson County area (at Afton Mountain B&B, perhaps?), then you have a delightful opportunity to celebrate the holiday at the nearby Wintergreen Resort’s Thanksgiving 2013. Grab those running shoes for a Turkey Day 5K to burn off some calories before indulging in a Thanksgiving Buffet. Take part in a ski swap at the Skyline Pavilion or a Gingerbread House Workshop at the Grand Pavilion. And of course, don’t miss the Grand Illumination along the Blue Ridge Terrace Courtyard, where seasonal lights will flash across the mountainside. Other activities will include Holiday Candy Bingo at, a sports action film by Warren Miller, and a Sunday morning interdenominational worship service at the Lookout.
(Of course, if you’d rather have a more low-key Thanksgiving, you can always relax in an Afton Mountain room and spend a quiet, relaxing evening at one of our favorite local restaurants.)

And now, we leave you with these poignant words to commemorate Thanksgiving:
“May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!”
