Taste of Monticello Wine Trail Festival
Most of us enjoy a glass or wine every now and then, right? It’s especially tasty when shared with friends, and even more so when it’s part of an event like the Taste of Monticello Wine Trail Festival.
“The Monticello Wine Trail organization is a non-for-profit organization that exists to promote and encourage cooperation amongst the various Central Virginia wineries. These award-winning wineries have helped raise Central Virginia’s ranking to the fifth largest wine producing state in the nation” (Monticello Wine Trail Festival). This year’s Wine Trail Festival will be held on April 9-11 at Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall. So far there are 24 participating wineries, including some of our favorites like Afton Mountain Vineyards, Veritas Vineyard & Winery, and King Family Vineyards.
The festival kicks off on Thursday, April 9, 2015 with the Monticello Cup Awards at the Jefferson Theater, where the best wines in the region will receive their due acclaim. (You also won’t want to miss the keynote speaker, Dave McIntyre, who is a wine columnist with the Washington Post and is sure to bring a wealth of viticultural knowledge and insight.)
Friday, April 10, 2015 will be a day of visiting individual wineries, ending with an evening of culinary delight at various Charlottesville restaurants.
On Saturday, April 11, 2015, the much anticipated Tasting Event will take place at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion. At this event, you’ll not only sip and swirl the beverages of over 20 wineries, but you’ll also be treated to the live entertainment of Herbie D and the Dangermen, “a swampy blend of Appalachian Acoustic Blues and New Orleans Style Jump Blues taken from the hills to the Juke Joint.”
Doesn’t this sound like a fun three day for wine lovers? The only thing that would make your festival experience even better is a stay at a bed & breakfast, and that’s where Afton Mountain comes in. Click here check availability now. We look forward to seeing you!
