Pass the Pasta, Please!
Did you know that October 25 is World Pasta Day? Nope, we’re not kidding! World Pasta Day has its origins in Rome, Italy and started as an annual event during the first World Pasta Congress in 1995. In honor of this holiday and the country that produced it, we’re highlighting a few of our favorite local Italian restaurants, which offer some amazing dishes that will have you wanting to celebrate World Pasta Day every day.
Scotto’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, Waynesboro: Choose spaghetti, linguini, or ziti noodles, and then smother them in amazing pesto sauce, chunky marinara, clam sauce, or other tasty sauce selections. (Scotto’s also offers wheat pasta and gluten-free pasta for those who’d like something other than the traditional choice.)
Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Charlottesville: Treat yourself to pasta perfection with lasagna Bolognese, short rib rigatoni, or pasta mia nonna. Like Scotto’s, you’ll find a fantastic selection of gluten-free options to choose from.
Tavola Restaurant, Charlottesville: Enjoy a fine pasta meal that includes a range of everything from linguine alla carbonara to fazzoletti di seta (featuring house-made “silk handkerchiefs” pasta!).
New York Flying Pizza, Waynesboro: Served with salad and garlic bread, this New York-style eatery presents mouthwatering classics like fettuccini alfredo, ravioli parmigiana, and pasta primavera.
Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant, Nellysford: Indulge in wonderfully large portions of baked spaghetti, chicken marsala with noodles, lasagna, fettuccini, and more at this small restaurant that’s conveniently located just down the road from Wild Wolf Brewery. Pasta and beer tasting, anyone?
After all of that deliciously heavy food, you’ll need someplace to sleep it off in peace and comfort. Afton Mountain Bed & Breakfast at your service, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
