Nelson County Food Trucks
Whether you call them mobile vendors, lunch trucks, or food wagons, there’s no doubt that these meals on wheels are fun. Food trucks have become increasingly popular in the Nelson County, Virginia area, serving everything from pizza to salmon to smoked pulled pork sandwiches.
Bruno’s GastroTruck- Bruno’s GastroTruck labels itself “Global Curb Cuisine” and their goal is to “do everything local.” Think food trucks are limited to serving simple hot dogs and hamburgers? Think again. In Bruno’s mobile kitchen, you’ll find seared tuna, Peruvian chicken tacos, fried Brussels sprouts with balsamic glaze, and even an assortment of Girl Scout cookies.
Blue Ridge Pizza Company- Using fresh, local ingredients, Blue Ridge Pizza Company transports their wood-fired pizza oven on the back of a truck, delivering their goods to local vineyards and breweries, festivals, and private events. Sink your teeth into “The Peachy Pig” with smoked barbecue pulled pork and Henley’s Orchard peaches. Feast on “The Blenheim” with red grapes, blue cheese, olive oil, and rosemary. Is your mouth watering yet? It should be.
Mouth Wide Open- The Mouth Wide Open food truck, which is based in Charlottesville, VA, boasts a variety of food from various places in the U.S.—New England, Mississippi, California, and South Carolina, just to name a few. Right now, their Winter Menu options include salmon with lemon herb sauce and spinach, buffalo chicken, spicy whisky burgers, and mushroom melts. Grab some fries or onion rings with your sliders, and lather them in chipotle dipping sauce. (If you’re feeling especially healthy, choose a side salad instead.)
The Blue Mountain Barrel House Food Truck- It doesn’t get much more fresh and local than a Skyline Turkey Wrap. This is only one of the delicious options offered at Blue Mountain Brewery’s Barrel House. Their new food truck is available on Fridays from 4pm-8pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm-8pm. Pair your local craft beer with a soft pretzel, a beer-boiled bratwurst, or a veggie gyro.
