Let Your Flag Fly at the Fourth of July at Wintergreen Resort

The Fourth of July will be here before you know it, and if you are dreading the thought of hosting another barbecue, cook out, or friends and family get-together, then escape to Afton, VA for Independence Day 2015.

For Wintergreen Resort, which is just a quick drive down the road from Afton Mountain Bed & Breakfast, a single day of Independence Day celebration isn’t enough. Instead the patriotic festivities of their Fourth of July Jubilee will span across three days, July 3, 4, and 5, and will include lakeside relaxation, live music, and more. Check out a few of these upcoming Jubilee activities:

1. Arts & Crafts Showcase: Browse the creations of talented local artisans, who will be displaying their pieces from 10:00 a.m. until dark on Saturday, July 4 and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5.

2. Scenic Chairlift Rides: Enjoy an aerial perspective of summer in Virginia with Wintergreen’s “Blue Ridge Express.” There is nothing quite like seeing the mountains from a higher point of view!

3. A Day at Lake Monocan: Wintergreen’s 20-acre lake and park features everything from canoeing to beach volleyball. Friday’s Day at Lake Monocan begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m., so you’ll have plenty of time for a hearty breakfast at Afton Mountain and then an evening of relaxation back at our B&B.

4. Fireworks! What Fourth of July would be complete without fireworks bursting across the night sky? The display begins at 9:30 p.m. at the Dunlop Pavilion, followed by live music to finish out the evening.
