Enjoy National Peach Ice Cream Day!
"An apple is an excellent thing -- until you have tried a peach." –George du Maurier
Many people automatically equate the month of July with Independence Day, but that’s not the only event to be recognized. July 17 just so happens to be National Peach Ice Cream Day, which is perfect timing since the fruits of our local peach orchards are in their prime.
Take Chiles Peach Orchard for example. The peaches at this Crozet, Virginia orchard are flourishing this time of year, allowing visitors to pick their own and savor the sweet, ripe flavor. Chiles just so happens to also offer its patrons an ice cream parlor complete with frozen yogurt, slushies, milkshakes, ice cream sundaes, and as you may have already guessed, peach ice cream. You won’t find a more delicious and satisfying peach ice cream than that crafted from trees right onsite at Chiles.
While National Peach Ice Cream Day is the perfect excuse to stop by and enjoy a scoop or two at Chiles Peach Orchard, there are other times to plan a visit as well. Later this year on August 1-2, 2015, the orchard will be hosting a Peach Ice Cream Festival. The Crozet Lions Club will be making and selling their peach ice cream—which is made using Chiles’ mouthwatering fruit—as part of their annual fundraiser. As a popular orchard event, you may want to arrive early…they’ve been known to sell out of their delicious ice cream.
Chiles Peach Orchard is only a short drive away from our B&B, so complete your National Peach Ice Cream Day getaway with an Afton Mountain stay and a bowl, cone, or blend of this frozen treat.
