But women aren’t the only ones that enjoy this eclectic shop. Men, too, have their own corner of retail heaven. From premium cigars like Padron, Rocky Patel, Monte Cristo, and A. Fuentes, there is also the Duke Cannon grooming line, artifacts, and even vintage rod and reels to test out.

It’s a guarantee men won’t be sitting in a comfy chair snoozing while the women shop!

ebb & flow also offers one-of-a-kind antiques, caramels and chocolates, and rare coins. There’s also a wide array of scarves, bags, and wraps by RockFlowerPaper, as well as seasonal products from Napa Home and Garden.

For the book lover, you’ll find an eclectic collection ranging from the old to the new. And then there’s the gallery. While you’re browsing the many areas of ebb & flow, you won’t want to miss this! You can’t help but get swept away by all the incredible talent gracing the walls.

How Ebb & Flow Got Started

It turns out this building has quite a history of its own.

Way back in 1930, the building we now know as ebb & flow began its history as a “fantastic restaurant” with great hamburgers and french fries. Somewhere along the way, it was also a gun shop. In  its 87-year tenure, the stone building was home to many other kinds of interests, too. But in 1969, it was a victim of Hurricane Camille.

Not only did the stone cottage survive the deadly hurricane, it also helped to save the lives of others. Camille flooded small towns, and Faber was no different. Some residents made their way to the roof of the building to keep from drowning.

With such a strong history, it’s easy to see why Faber has a soft spot for this building. That’s why the town was thrilled when Justin and Lindsey Smith bought the building in 2014. The Smiths moved here from New York in 2009 when Lindsey’s job with Caspari transferred her to Charlottesville. 

They heard about the property and fell in love with it. As you can imagine, it needed a lot of work, as in two years worth of renovation. Justin is an artist, and he applied his considerable skill to the transformation of the old building.

“It was truly a labor of love to renovate this property,” Lindsey said. And it shows. If a building could beam with pride, this one would!
