Celebrate Summer at the Daylily Festival - Fishersville
“Let me grow old amoungst the daylilies, for they offer up a spark of youth to my soul.” --Anonymous
The Daylily Festival may have a floral name, but this annual celebration at the Viette Family Farm & Nursery goes well beyond its renowned display of lilies. It is a much anticipated weekend of socialization, relaxation, and education with nature as a backdrop. “Fields of glorious daylilies and exotic plants against the scenic beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a must-see for flower lovers, wine lovers and weekend travelers seeking a relaxing get-away” (Viette.com).
The Daylily Festival has its roots in the efforts of Andre Viette, well-known horticulturist, author, lecturer, and co-owner of the Viette Family Farm: “Andre wanted his nursery in the valley to become a destination - a place where visitors could come not only to purchase plants but to spend a leisurely day strolling through beautiful gardens and come away with a head full of ideas.” While the farm boasts stunning irises and peonies, the daylilies are its true pride and joy, and many of them are hybrids of Andre’s own creation.
