4 Reasons to Take a Mid-Week Vacation
As you are probably already aware, August has arrived. Summer vacation is winding down, teachers and students are anticipating the return to the classroom, and people are already starting to plan their fall foliage getaways. If you found yourself unable to take a summer holiday and bemoaning no time for a full fall vacation, then we think a mid-week break might be perfect for you. Why? We’re glad you asked:
- There are fewer people during the week. Everyone heads out for their vacation on the weekends, right? Beat the crowds with a weekday escape.
- You may find some lower prices and mid-week specials. Many places offer mid-week specials on meals, drinks, and activities. For example, our local joint Blue Mountain Brewery offers $1 Off Wednesdays, so if you stay with us on a Wednesday evening, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy this brewery special.
- It breaks up the work week. Monday wouldn’t be so bad if you knew you had a vacation waiting for you on Wednesday! Furthermore, this anticipation of a break leads us to reasons #4.
- It’s healthy! According to Steven Meyers, professor of psychology at Roosevelt University in Chicago, “the mini vacation feels like a bonus -- while we expect weekends off, a free day like this one can feel like having a sale, or getting cash back on a purchase, Meyers explains…. positive attitude can have residual effects, as people remember a fun, relaxing day, even after returning to reality” (HuffingtonPost).
