Breakfast is served…
We know that one of the big reasons people to choose to stay at a Bed & Breakfast is well, breakfast. So we take a lot of pride in the quality of the dishes that we serve. And that starts with using fresh and local products whenever we can. For instance, we get our eggs from Tall Cotton Farm and sausage from Double-H Farm, both located right here in Nelson County. We get our scrumptious bread from right across the road at Goodwin Creek Farm & Bakery. When in season, we get much of our produce from our neighbors at Critzer Family Farm and Afton Mountain Farm Market Orchard and Greenhouse (AM Fog). Even our coffee – fair trade and organic - is locally roasted in Lovingston by Trager Brothers Coffee (TBC).
Have a seat…
In order to best accommodate you, we seat guests for breakfast anytime between 8:30 and 9:30 each morning. Our dining room includes a gas fireplace to help warm you on those chilly Autumn and Winter mornings. In those cases when you need an early departure, we are happy to provide a continental breakfast at an earlier time.
… and enjoy!
First we’ll offer you some orange juice, TBC coffee, or your choice of our selection of hot teas. Then Orquida’s fabulous breakfast always starts with a fruit dish – fresh when in season – like our popular Heavenly Peaches, Fresh Fruit Ambrosia, Autumn Fruit Salad, or various flavors of smoothies. We also serve muffins, scones or some other pastry whenever we do an egg-based entrée. Many of our breakfast entrées have a southern influence, but you won’t ever find biscuits and gravy or grits on the menu. It’s essentially comfort food for breakfast, with a fun twist. Not “gourmet”, but casual, delicious and unforgettable. Some examples of what you might enjoy when you stay with us are Apricot Stuffed French Toast, Pumpkin or Oatmeal Pancakes, Walnut Oat Waffles topped with Peaches, and Swiss cheese, Artichoke and Sun Dried Tomato Frittatas. And we include some of our local sausage or Dan’s perfectly crisp bacon to round out the meal.
Of course we’re always happy to accommodate special diets and food allergies.
